The short version

Dubrovnik is not a city where visitors should simply navigate to the Old Town and look for a bay. The historic-core contact area has a camera-controlled special traffic regime, while the nearest official visitor parking at Pile and the lower cable-car plateau is charged at a premium.

Choose your parking area before entering central Dubrovnik. Gruž works well for the ferry and cruise port, Lapad for the peninsula and beaches, and Gospino Polje for longer stays away from the Old Town. If certainty matters, search GoParko for a reservable private space outside the restricted area.

Public car parks in Dubrovnik

These are official Sanitat zones, not live availability. The restricted traffic area and residents-only bays mean that a space visible from the road may not be legal visitor parking.

Barrier-controlled

Zone 0 – Pile and Žičara lower plateau

€20/hour; €250 multi-hour or daily ticket · €5/hour; €51 multi-hour or daily ticket

Iza Grada at Pile and the lower cable-car parking plateau

Open and charged 24 hours. These are the nearest official visitor facilities to the historic core, but the summer tariff makes even a short stay expensive.

Pay: Official Sanitat reservation or payment system; a reservation may add 10% to the published price.

Zone 1 – Gruž and business district

Includes Obala Stjepana Radića, Vukovarska, Dr Ante Starčevića and Nikole Tesle

Charged daily 06:00–22:00. Useful for Gruž harbour, ferries and cruise arrivals; check individual signs because business-zone stay conditions may apply.

Zone 2 – residents only

Not available to ordinary visitors

Contact-zone streets and facilities near the historic core, including Tenis-Tabor and the upper cable-car plateau

Do not treat an empty Zone 2 bay as visitor parking. The official tariff identifies this zone for eligible residents only.

Charged daily 06:00–22:00. Often a more realistic visitor choice for Lapad accommodation, beaches and longer stays than the Old Town edge.

Gradac, immediately west of the historic centre

Not a normal casual hourly visitor option. The official table publishes no ordinary hourly, daily, weekly or monthly ticket, so do not rely on Gradac without confirming eligibility first.

Charged 24 hours. A useful longer-stay alternative away from the Old Town, but plan the onward walk or local transport before leaving the car.

How Dubrovnik parking zones and prices work

Tariffs vary sharply by zone and season. Zone 0 at Pile and the lower cable-car plateau costs €20 per hour from May to October; visitor zones farther from the Old Town are currently €1.30 per hour from March to November.

Local parking tips

Do not navigate straight to the Old Town

Dubrovnik's special traffic regime is camera controlled. Set your route to a legal parking facility outside the controlled area and follow the current signs; unauthorised entry can trigger enforcement.

Pile is exceptionally expensive in summer

At the published May–October tariff, three hours in Zone 0 costs €60. The convenience may suit a short assisted arrival, but it is rarely the economical choice for sightseeing all day.

Use Gruž for the port

For ferries, the cruise terminal and Gruž market, Zone 1 and nearby Zone 3 streets avoid an unnecessary approach to the Old Town. Availability still varies with ship movements.

Lapad is a different parking market

If your accommodation or beach is on the Lapad peninsula, search and park there rather than crossing the city toward Pile. Zone 3 offers hourly, daily and weekly tickets under the current tariff.

Resident bays are not overflow parking

Zone 2 is reserved for eligible residents. A navigation app or map pin does not override the coloured zone sign or local access restriction.

Park & Ride is not open yet

The City began construction of the Pobrežje Park & Ride project in 2026. Until an official opening is announced, do not plan a journey around it.

Private parking can remove uncertainty

A reservable GoParko space can give you a known address, price and arrival window outside the restricted zone. Always use the exact entrance directions released with the confirmed booking.

Motorhomes are daytime only on GoParko

GoParko can show suitable larger private spaces for daytime parking, not overnight camping. Confirm vehicle dimensions and local restrictions before travelling.

Can tourists drive to Dubrovnik Old Town?

Do not assume so. The historic-core contact area uses a special camera-controlled traffic regime. Visitors should use an authorised route and legal parking outside it, unless they have a current permit or other officially valid access basis.

How much is parking at Pile in Dubrovnik?

Sanitat's current Zone 0 tariff is €20 per hour from May to October and €5 per hour from November to April. The published multi-hour or daily tickets are €250 and €51 respectively.

Where is cheaper public parking in Dubrovnik?

Zones 1, 3 and 5 currently charge €1.30 per hour from March to November and €0.70 from December to February. Their locations and ticket options differ, so choose by destination rather than price alone.

Can visitors park in Zone 2?

No, not as ordinary casual visitors. Sanitat identifies Zone 2 as residents-only for eligible users with a valid permit.

Where should I park for Dubrovnik ferry port?

Look around Gruž, particularly the legal Zone 1 and Zone 3 locations serving Obala Stjepana Radića and surrounding streets. Allow extra time on cruise-ship and ferry changeover days.

Is Dubrovnik Park & Ride open?

Not yet according to the current official project information. Construction of the Pobrežje facility began in 2026, so wait for an official opening announcement before relying on it.
